Buyers Checklist for Security Services

When selecting a supplier of manned security services it is worth checkng the following criteria.

• Are they inspected to NSI Gold Standard ensuring adherence to British Standards?

Are they SIA Approved Contrators?

Do they operate their own 24-hour manned Control Centre with a landline number?

Can you contact the office and Control Centre 24 hours a day including Bank Holidays and weekends?

Can you visit their operating premises and sites before contract commencement?

Can you meet with a representative of management before contract commencement?

Have you seen their insurance cover and is it industry specific, not just public and employers liability?

Is the financial stability of the company good through a Dun & Bradstreet check?

Can the company offer a tailored solution to meet your needs?

Are Night Managers in place to provide support to out of hours staff?

Are all services provided direct without the use of sub-contractors?

Do they specialise in security?

Are they fully conversant with the Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment (TUPE)?

Does the Senior Management have access to and liase with local Police Forces?

Have you been given the opportunity to become involved with the selection of security personnel for your team?

Can the company demonstrate a good health and safety record?
